Antique platinum 1.22 CT natural transitional cut Birks – Ryrie Diamond ring

This exquisite antique ring is 100 years old this year. Made by the illustrious, renowned, and historical Canadian fine jewellery house Birks-Ryrie, it is a dream come true for lovers of antique and vintage styling and romance. Made in solid platinum and signed “RYRIE BIRKS”, it boasts a magnificent, incredibly bright and sparkly transitional-cut diamond. For those unfamiliar, a “transitional cut” is a rare, old technique of cutting diamonds that briefly existed between the end of the reign of Old European cuts, and the introduction of the modern “round brilliant” cut. Hence the name “transitional cut”. (Sometimes, this cut is known by another name: “Edwardian cut”). The bright, beautiful diamond solitaire (0.96 carat on its own) is enhanced by a gorgeous diamond-studded setting, and fine vintage details. This ring ships in its ORIGINAL Birks-Ryrie sterling box, engraved “OBSA 1926”. It is sure to make whoever it is presented to swoon, and will become a family heirloom for generations to come.

Size/length/dimensions: This ring is currently size 6.75 and can be resized. The top of the ring rises approx. 6.5mm off the finger.

Stone specs: 1x natural TRANSITIONAL-cut diamond solitaire, approx. 0.96 carat, graded SI-1, FG colour, good cut. Approx. 6.5 in diameter. NOTE: Stone has a chip on the girdle under the claw. You would need a loupe to see this. AND 18x bead-set small diamonds, 8 transitional and 10 single cut, all graded VS2-SI1, GH colour, good cut; approx total diamond weight 0.26 carat.

Condition: Ring in excellent antique condition; but with some subtle evidence of resizing at the bottom of the band. Please note: Stone has a chip on the girdle under the claw. You would need a loupe to see this. The original box no longer snaps shut, has some damage.
