The Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox Speed Beat GT, reference E873, is a wonderful expression of the brand’s innovative spirit during the 1970s. Housed in a distinctive stainless steel case, the watch showcases a particularly neat and purposeful design that reflects the era’s fascination with sharp lines and integrated forms. The case profile sits comfortably on the wrist while retaining a strong visual presence, with crisp geometry that gives the watch a refined yet sporty character. Its balanced dial layout and twin-crown configuration are both functional and visually appealing, highlighting Jaeger-LeCoultre’s talent for combining elegant design with practical complications.
At the heart of the watch is the automatic Jaeger-LeCoultre calibre 916, part of the brand’s renowned “Speed Beat” family of high-frequency movements beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour for improved precision and smoother timekeeping. This particular example has been serviced by our watchmaker, ensuring the movement performs as intended and is ready to be enjoyed by its next owner.
One of the most charming features of the Memovox is its mechanical alarm function. The upper crown is used to wind and set the alarm, which is indicated by a rotating inner disc on the dial marked with a triangular pointer. When the set time is reached, a small hammer inside the case rapidly strikes a metal gong, producing the characteristic buzzing vibration that can be both heard and felt on the wrist. Originally designed as a practical reminder for daily appointments or travel schedules, the alarm remains one of the most engaging complications in vintage watchmaking.
Altogether, the Memovox Speed Beat GT E873 captures the essence of Jaeger-LeCoultre’s technical creativity and bold 1970s design language; an elegant, mechanically fascinating timepiece that offers both everyday usability and distinctive vintage charm.
