The Explorer collection has a rich history, inspired by Rolex’s connection with the exploration of some of the world’s most rugged terrains. This piece is dated to 1997 dating it to the very first production year of the 14270, it is a complete set and unpolished with razor sharp lugs. Does not get much better than this as a collector’s set.

What sets this piece apart, however, is its ‘Swiss Only’ dial. This unique feature dates back to a brief period in the late 1990s when Rolex transitioned from tritium to Luminova for its luminescent material. This watch is a Swiss Only dial, these dials were produced in a limited run between 1998/1999. Prior to 1998 dials used tritium lume and were signed ‘Swiss – t <25’, in 1998 Rolex introduced Luminova and changed the dial to ‘Swiss’ only. Shortly after Rolex switched to Super Luminova and adjusted the dial to ‘Swiss Made’. The serial begins with Uxxxxxx dating this watch correctly to 1998. The papers also match to 1998 and the buckle U8 also correctly dating the buckle to August 1998

Case: 36mm Stainless steel case which is in unpolished condition and showing light signs of previous wear. The lugs are razor sharp.
Dial/Hands: Original Rolex Black 'Swiss Only' dial is a stunning brand new condition. Hands are like new as they came from the factory
Caseback: Original stainless steel case in attractive condition
Movement: Original Rolex automatic movement which has been serviced and currently running +1 seconds per day.
Bracelet/Strap: Factory Rolex Oyster Stainless steel bracelet reference 78790 which remains unpolished and in really sharp condition, there is no stretch in the bracelet. The buckle is marked U8 dating this bracelet correctly to August 1998. The bracelet will fit a 7.9 inch wrist.
Crystal: Original sapphire crystal with no distracting marks
Accessories: The watch comes with everything in the photos including the box, warranty papers, booklets, it comes with the original box which even has the reference sticker on the side of the box and everything else seen in the photos. It does not get much more complete than this!
